Why I'm in the French Alps this week

I’m on a ski trip in the French Alps this week.

Just me and some friends.

Sienna’s at home with her grandparents.

She’s busy with some dance stuff and couldn’t make it.

“But Sean why are you on vacation so soon after your wife died?”

That’s a good question.

Shelli and I got engaged in Paris in 2011.

The very next day we saw our friends, the ones I’m skiing with this week, in Annonay.

It’s a small village in the Southeast of France.

They’re close friends and I’ve known them for decades.

They flew to the US just for Shelli’s funeral.

Shelli, Sienna and I were at this resort I’m skiing at in 2020, just before COVID shut down the world.

Last year I was in France skiing with just Sienna because Shelli wasn’t well enough to travel.

France has played a big part in mine and my family’s life.

So it seems fitting I should come back here to spend some quality time with good friends who’ve been there for me during the most difficult season of my life.

And it’s a celebration of Shelli’s life too.

I’ll tell you a story about Shelli.

When we were here skiing in 2020 Shelli was struggling with myasthenia.

One night she had severe breathing difficulties and I rode with her to the hospital at 2 am in an ambulance.

She got treated and the very next day she was back on the slopes.

Shelli was a fighter.

She didn’t let health troubles stop her from living her best life.

I’m going to honor her by not feeling guilty about my life continuing without her.

And I’m going to continue to live it to the fullest.

Talk soon,
Sean

P.S. I first met Danielle “Dani” Kortava when she walked into my office for some hypnotherapy.

We worked together for a while and I helped her.

She ended up joining my first ever hypnotherapy certification cohort.

“I was a client of Sean’s when I found myself at a really low place, and the transformation I experienced was so profound that it inspired some passion. I mean, how could I not share this with the world? I wanted others to feel the same way I did.”

I trained and certified her and several others.

“I did not think that we were going to be hypnotizing the very first day. That threw us all for a loop. We were like, wait, what? But I think that was a really great thing because I became very comfortable with that process a lot sooner… One of my first clients after training, for my certification credit hours, she experienced a really big transformation.”

Today she’s one of the hypnotherapists at my clinic.

“Besides the mentorship I continue to receive from Sean, which is priceless, the experience has been really fulfilling. Gaining more confidence as I go on experiencing new situations that people are going through, and seeing how effective I’ve been with them, you know, it’s been pretty incredible.”

I interviewed Dani about her experience going through the hypnosis certification program, as well as her experience working with paying clients.

You can watch her full interview, and those of other students, here.

And if you’d like to join the April cohort of our hypnosis certification program, you can schedule a friendly chat with me next week.
